LITA CABELLUT

SELECTED WORK

(Spain, 1961) is a multidisciplinary artist renowned for her paintings on large scale canvases. Her technique leads not only to impressive figurative paintings, drawings and sculptures, but to depictions of profoundly human subjects. Cabellut often transgresses the boundaries of traditional painting to immerse herself in a sort of performance that includes harsh interactions with her canvases, including scratching, hitting and wrinkling them. Her practice also includes photography, scenography, installation and poetry. This multidisciplinary approach has enabled her to expand her practice even to the creation of Opera scenographies, as well as stage, custom and video design. Lives and works in The Netherlands.

Her works have been exhibited in numerous museums around the world, including: Seoul Arts Center, Korea; Contemporary Art Museum, Sicily, Italy; CSMVS and Mumbai, India. Her work is included in the permanent collections of several museums such as Museo Goya IberCaja, Zaragoza Spain; Museo de Arte Contemporánea, Sicilia, Italy; The Fendi Collection, Italy; Museu Europeu d’Art Modern, Vila Casas Foundation, Spain; Théâtre Mogador, France; Copelouzos, Greece; The Joop & Janine van de Ende Foundation and The Paul van Rensch Foundation, The Netherlands.
